Don't Be Ashamed Of Jesus

Posted by Cheryl on November 9, 2015 at 10:05 AM

Have A Wonderful & Blessed Monday!!! Being Ashamed Of Family, Ashamed Of The Lord!!!

2Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

I remember being young and feeling ashamed of my home, the fighting, and things that went on. I know someone who was embarrassed of his sister who was legally blind and looked less than attactive. I know of someone who was embarrassed of his mother who had horrible scars on her face and arms, he wouldn't go anywhere with her. Then one day he asked her where they came from. She rescued him from his crib when the house was burning. Sometimes the things we are ashamed of we really have no right to be ashamed of.

What about Jesus how often are us as Christians are embarrassed or ashamed of Jesus? It is bad enough to be ashamed of family, but to be embarrased of Jesus is really uncalled for. Christians should be thankful they are saved, and not be ashamed of that fact. If you are, you should think on what Jesus did to save you.

A soldier strikes Jesus across the face for remaining silent when questioned by Caiaphas.

They spit on Him, strike Him in the face, and pull out His beard. Spitting on someone was the lowest form of disgrace to a person in that time. Jesus endured a lot of shame, disgrace, and pain at the hands of the soldiers.

Preparations for the scourging are carried out. Jesus is stripped of His clothing, and His hands are tied to a post above His head so that the flesh of the shoulders and the back are stretched to the limit. The Jews had an ancient law prohibiting more than 40 lashes which is why Paul several times received 39 lashes. But the Romans made no attempt to follow Jewish law in this matter and Jesus probably received many more.

When the back of Jesus is bared and stretched tight, a Roman legionnaire steps forward with the flagrum (sometimes it is called a flagellum or cat-of-nine-tails) in his hand. It is a short whip consisting of nine heavy leather thongs, each with small lead balls, embedded with bits of glass, stone, or bone attached near the ends. The heavy whip is brought down with full force again and again on the shoulders, back, and legs of Jesus.

The half-fainting Jesus is then untied and allowed to slump to the stone pavement, soaked with His own blood. The Roman soldiers see an opportunity to make a joke out of Him. Here is a provincial Jew claiming to be a king, but was now barely alive. So they throw a robe across His shoulders and place a stick in His hand for a scepter. To make the travesty complete, a small bundle of flexible branches covered with long thorns are woven into the shape of a crown and pressed into His scalp. Since head wounds always bleed a lot, the blood runs down His face and into His eyes.

This is all before the cross. My heart breaks going through just a few things So why is it your embarrassed to say his name in public? Why are you ASHAMED do admit he is your Savior? Why can't you be in Church? Why are you too busy, too tired? Why do you mock them crazy Christians when they are standing on the street corner holding the John 3:16 signs, or the crazy relative that won't drink anymore because "Jesus said it is better for me not too".

Child of God, take the name of Jesus with you. Wherever you go STOP BEING EMBARRASSED, ASHAMED, WHAT DO YOU THINK JESUS FELT GOING THROUGH JUST THE ABOVE THINGS? THAT IS NOT ALL HE WENT THROUGH!!!

BE TOUGH DO THE FOLLOWING YOU WON'T SUFFER WHAT JESUS SUFFERED

* To pray in public.

* To speak His name in public.

* To carry His Word in public.

* To sing His music in public.

* To act and live like a Christian should act and live.

Why would you be ashamed to imitate the One Who saved your soul from going to Hell?

Why would you be ashamed to name the name of Jesus?

UNFORTUNATELY!

Many Christians today are not ashamed:

* To tell a dirty joke in public.

* To speak the name of God in vain in public.

* To wear a shirt advertising beer or whiskey.

* To act like anything but a Christian in public.

Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Hebrews 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,

Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true;

It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory,

To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seems

Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.

I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;

And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.

I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory,

To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story; ’tis pleasant to repeat

What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet.

I love to tell the story, for some have never heard

The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word.

I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory,

To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best

Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.

And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,

’Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory,

To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

JESUS SHALL REIGN

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun

Does his successive journeys run;

His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,

Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

Behold the islands with their kings,

And Europe her best tribute brings;

From north to south the princes meet,

To pay their homage at His feet.

There Persia, glorious to behold,

There India shines in eastern gold;

And barb’rous nations at His word

Submit, and bow, and own their Lord.

To Him shall endless prayer be made,

And praises throng to crown His head;

His Name like sweet perfume shall rise

With every morning sacrifice.

People and realms of every tongue

Dwell on His love with sweetest song;

And infant voices shall proclaim

Their early blessings on His Name.

Blessings abound wherever He reigns;

The prisoner leaps to lose his chains;

The weary find eternal rest,

And all the sons of want are blessed.

Where He displays His healing power,

Death and the curse are known no more:

In Him the tribes of Adam boast

More blessings than their father lost.

Let every creature rise and bring

Peculiar honors to our King;

Angels descend with songs again,

And earth repeat the loud amen!

Great God, whose universal sway

The known and unknown worlds obey,

Now give the kingdom to Thy Son,

Extend His power, exalt His throne.

The scepter well becomes His hands;

All Heav’n submits to His commands;

His justice shall avenge the poor,

And pride and rage prevail no more.

With power He vindicates the just,

And treads th’oppressor in the dust:

His worship and His fear shall last

Till hours, and years, and time be past.

As rain on meadows newly mown,

So shall He send his influence down:

His grace on fainting souls distills,

Like heav’nly dew on thirsty hills.

The heathen lands, that lie beneath

The shades of overspreading death,

Revive at His first dawning light;

And deserts blossom at the sight.

The saints shall flourish in His days,

Dressed in the robes of joy and praise;

Peace, like a river, from His throne

Shall flow to nations yet unknown.
