THANKSGIVING!

Guilty! I must admit lately I have cut back on time devoted to the site due to pressing personal demands on my time. Glad to report though that a good portion of it has gone to actual praying (with prayer group or alone) and almost daily mass attendance for all webprayze intentions of site bloggers and prayze angels and their families and, of course, for urgent prayer request submissions received. Certainly my own individual petitions for family members are included which brings me directly to the reason for this blog entry: THANKSGIVING! In trusting gratitude for prayers already answered or not, and/or in hopeful anticipation of it in the future, here are some short prayers and invocations in my very own personal arsenal of devotions....

PRAYER TO

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

O Most Holy Virgin Mary,

Queen of the most holy Rosary,

you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima

and reveal a glorious message.

We implore you,

inspire in our hearts a fervent love

for the recitation of the Rosary.

By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption

that are recalled therein

may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask,

through the merits of Jesus Christ,

our Lord and Redeemer.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH

Because you were the watchful guardian of the Holy Family,

please watch over us, Christ's chosen offspring.

Like an alert father kindly keep far from us

every taint of error or corruption.

From your place of glory on high come to aid us

in our conflict with the powers of darkness.

V. St. Joseph, whom the infant Jesus so much loved,

R. Kindly intercede for us that we may be granted

all we ask for please.  Let us pray...

Assist ur Lord, by the merits of your foster father,

St. Joseph, spouse of your most holy mother.

May his help gain for us what our own efforts cannot.

This we ask through you who live and reign with

God the Father in the union of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for all the ages.  Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE

Glorious St. Jude,

with faith in your goodness,

we ask your help today.

As oneof Christ's chosen apostles,

you remain a pillar and foundation

of His Church on earth.

You are counted, we know,

among the elders who always

stand before God's throne.

From your place of glory we know,

you do not forget the needs

and difficulties of Christ's little ones

here, still strugling like me,

on the way home to God.

Please intercede for us all,

gracious St. Jude, and be with us

in our daily toil and in

all our necessities.

In Christ's name

we appeal to you today!

A VERY HAPPY & BLESSED INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

On this day so special to all Americans,

Happy Eye-Popping 4th of July

From your webprayze family...

VICTORY!!!

(This is a truly blessed Independence Day holiday for all Americans! Our fight for religious freedom just gained significant victories due a recent Supreme Court decision upholding the right of Hobby Lobby and other corporations like it to opt out of the Obamacare HHS mandate! The following prayer seems most appropriate. Let's keep on praying!!!)

PRAYER FOR THE PROTECTION

OF RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

O God our Creator,

from your provident hand we have received

our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

You have called us as your people and given us

the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,

and your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,

you call us to live out our faith in the midst ofthe world,

bringing the light and the saving truth of theGospel

to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us

in our vigilance for the gift of religiousliberty.

Give us the strength of mind and heart

to readily defend our freedoms when they arethreatened;

give us courage in making our voices heard

on behalf of the rights of your Church

and the freedom of conscience of all people offaith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,

a clear and united voice to all your sons anddaughters

gathered in your Church

in this decisive hour in the history of ournation,

so that, with every trial withstood

and every danger overcome—

for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,

and all who come after us—

this great land will always be "one nation, underGod,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Jesus comes to us like the dewfall...WOW!!!

Posted by Maria Concordia "Connie" I. Ko on June 22, 2014 at 9:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Surely this week is a triple whammy! Of course today, Sunday, is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). As if that wasn't enough on its own, the week also celebrates the Solemnities of the Birth of John the Baptist this coming Tuesday, June 24, and of the Sacred Heart of Jesus this Friday, June 27. Also, the Sunday mass readings explore a "dewfall" metaphor for Jesus in scripture, the first time I've heard it again in a long time. The powerfully evocative and poetic allusion becomes possible because of the restoration of some of the "most arresting lines" in the liturgy by the new mass translation. Here's the NCR editorial:

The Dewfall Brings Jesus

User's Guide to Sunday, June 22

Sunday, June 22 (Year A, Cycle II), is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). There are two additional solemnities this week: Tuesday, June 24, is the Solemnity of the Birth of John the Baptist, and Friday, June 27, is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Mass Readings

Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14-16; Psalm 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; John 6:51-58

Our Take

One of the most arresting lines from the liturgy to be restored by the new translation of the Mass is its reference to "dewfall" bringing the body and blood of Christ:

"Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit on them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Corpus Christi shows why the dewfall is a great metaphor for how Jesus Christ comes to his world and comes to us.

In the first reading from Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the people that God fed them in the wilderness with manna "in order to show you that not by bread alone does one live, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord."

After the Passover and the Israelites’ escape from Egypt, God provided for his people. Each morning, dew covered the Israelites’ camp. Then it would evaporate, leaving manna, this mysterious substance from heaven that provided for their needs.

The experience taught them much about God. They learned that he was their provider: not just each season, but every day. They learned they could live by his word — trusting his promise to give them what they needed.

He did just that, as quietly and consistently as the dewfall.

Fast-forward to the Gospel. It begins: "Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: ‘I am the living bread that came down from heaven.’"

Jesus himself has become the manna that is left after the dewfall.

An ancient poem from the early days of Catholic England describes the Incarnation with reference to dew:

"He came as still / Where his mother was / As dew in April / That falleth on the grass. // He came as still / To his mother’s bower / As dew in April / That falleth on the flower. // He came as still / Where his mother lay / As dew in April / That falleth on the spray."

The lines describe the same phenomenon that the readings and the Eucharistic Prayer describe: Jesus comes to us with the unstoppable but subtle power of dew.

The order of his coming is always the same as it was at the Annunciation. Remember what Gabriel said to Mary: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the Child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God."

First comes the Holy Spirit, the quiet dew. Then comes the power of God’s word; and then there, like manna, is Jesus.

Corpus Christi stresses that the metaphors are pointing to a reality that is much stronger than any analogy.

After all, manna was real food that really sustained the Israelites. For us, the body and blood of Jesus is really present in the Eucharist, and it really sustains us.

And the Holy Spirit comes just as certainly and generously to his people as the dew comes to the grass.

FATHER'S DAY PRAYER

Father, it is Your Commandment that we should honor our fathers;

hear the prayers we offer You for them.

Grant them many years on earth and keep them in health of mind and body.

Bless their word and all they do.

Give them back a hundred-fold whatever they have done for us.

Inspire them with Your love and help them to fulfill Your holy law.

One day, may we be their comfort and support,

so that having enjoyed their affection on earth

we may have the joy of being with them forever in Your home in Heaven.

Through Christ our Lord.

HOPE

Posted by Cheryl on May 4, 2014 at 7:50 PM Comments comments (0)
Good Morning!!! Have A Wonderful Sunday!!! A Promise & Prayer; A PRECIOUS PROMISE:

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

The Apostle Paul wrote the book of Romans through the Holy Inspiration of God. In the 15th chapter he is telling us the Lord doesn't give us hope He is our hope. Isaiah refers to Him as the object of our hope. In Haggai 2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

Without God, we truly have no hope except the normal desires common to the unconverted, things like filling our bellies, getting a goodnight sleep, satisfying our eyes and ears, experiencing thrills and excitement, and accumulating money, power, and possessions. None of these things are necessarily evil, but the Lord wants our hopes to be exceedingly higher. However when you look at these things they aren't things that we can count on forever. They are not things we should be putting before the Lord, he provides all that, and more, we need to trust the Lord. Keep in mind he knows our very need, he knows how many hairs are upon our head, he knows when the baby sparrow falls from the nest. Verse 13 supplies a major condition to having this high quality of hope and thus the it provides believing. Remember, true faith gives all the elements of motivation, and thus they clarify why living faith produces growth of fruit.

Where is your hope? What do you think of when you hear the word HOPE?

1Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Psalm 31:23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

THE SOLID ROCK

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,

All other ground is sinking sand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,

I rest on His unchanging grace.

In every high and stormy gale,

My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,

Support me in the whelming flood.

When all around my soul gives way,

He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,

Oh may I then in Him be found.

Dressed in His righteousness alone,

Faultless to stand before the throne.

O THOU, IN WHOSE PRESENCE MY SOUL TAKES DELIGHT

O Thou in whose presence my soul takes delight,

On whom in affliction I call,

My comfort by day, and my song in the night,

My hope, my salvation, my all.

Where dost Thou at noontide resort with Thy sheep,

To feed on the pastures of love?

Say, why in the valley of death should I weep,

Or alone in the wilderness rove?

O, why should I wander an alien from Thee,

And cry in the desert for bread?

Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see,

And smile at the tears I have shed.

Ye daughters of Zion declare, have ye seen

The Star that on Israel shone?

Say, if in your tents my Belovèd has been,

And where, with His flocks, He is gone.

This is my Belovèd; His form is divine;

His vestments shed odors around:

The locks of His head are as grapes on the vine,

When autumn with plenty is crowned.

The roses of Sharon, the lilies that grow

In vales, on the banks of the streams:

On His cheeks, all the beauties of excellence glow,

And His eyes are as quivers of beams.

His voice, as the sound of the dulcimer sweet,

Is heard through the shadows of death;

The cedars of Lebanon bow at His feet,

The air is perfumed with His breath.

His lips as a fountain of righteousness flow,

That waters the garden of grace,

From which their salvation the Gentiles shall know,

And bask in the smiles of His face.

Love sits on His eye-lids, and scatters delight

Through all the bright mansions on high;

Their faces the cherubim veil in His sight,

And tremble with fullness of joy.

He looks, and ten thousands of angels rejoice,

And myriads wait for His word;

He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice,

Re-echoes the praise of her Lord.

Dear Shepherd, I hear and will follow Thy call;

I know the sweet sound of Thy voice.

Restore and defend me, for Thou art my All,

And in Thee I will ever rejoice.
