PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD!
A zealous persecutor of Christians
one moment, and a staunch defender the next. From Saul to Paul, a dramatic conversion indeed!
Today is the feast of the conversion of St Paul. The monsignor who celebrated the Holy Mass this noon at Christus St Catherine could not contain his excitement. Some parts of the Mass he sang spontaneously. The Sanctus was new to my ears, and the congregation sang with unsure notes. The monsignor said we sounded like a choir in a cathedral.
But it was a Holy Sacrifice even more. Everyone in that small hospital chapel was present to himself and to the Great and Holy Presence at the altar.
As St Paul got off his 'high horse' and allowed himself to be led meekly by the hand, so should we also be. By virtue of our baptism, we are called to proclaim God's Word to our neighbor: not as an arrogant and mighty preacher, but as a humble, ordinary layman going about her or his daily chore.
Which reminds me of St Francis who said that to speak about Jesus, we should not open our lips; we do so only if necessary.
I wonder how I did my 'proclamation' today. Jesus, I need you to help me.
